Peak Shift

2020

Watercolour on 300gsm cartridge

100x140cm

Sometimes things reach a point where shift is needed and a simple change of perspective can lead to a new way of seeing things.

By rotating this painting fully once completed, it showed me a different way of looking at the brushmarks and composition - the individual marks seem to defy gravity now, and the overall structure of the lines shifts from resembling a flowing fabric, to a geological landscape.
